Staff Sergeant Robert J. Teague

Bob Teague is a world-champion marathon and offshore boat racer and the owner/founder of Teague Custom Marine Inc in Valencia, CA. An avid boat enthusiast, he established his company in 1972 to help support his own boat racing program. Today, the company serves the world with custom, high performance marine engine packages, rigging parts and accessories, custom manufacturing, distribution, and extensive mail order. Most of what Teague Custom Marine manufactures is a result of the need to solve a problem, either in-house or for another engine builder or boat builder. Teague Custom Marine has also become the largest distributor for many of the leading performance aftermarket marine manufacturers, working hand in hand with other companies to develop products that are right for the performance boater.

Bob served in the U.S. Army during 1968, 1969, and 1970 and during that time was an Infantry Combat Platoon Leader in Vietnam and Cambodia in the First Calvary Division, "Roving Gambler" Battalion. Bob was the platoon leader of the first platoon of the Long-Range Patrol "D" Company known as "Stacked Deck." Bob's call sign was "Stacked Deck One-Six." As a combat infantry platoon leader, Bob led his platoon as one of the initial units on the Cambodian Offensive. Bob has received several awards for valor as a result of his service.

Bob holds a few degrees in Business Administration and Public Administration. He attended California State University, Northridge, and then California State University, Los Angeles. In 1973, Bob joined the Los Angeles City Fire Department where he served for 23 years, 18 of those years as a Captain I or II.

Bob has a long history of involvement with the sport of powerboat racing. He has successfully raced in several classes and categories including Inboard Endurance, Offshore, and offshore record runs. Bob has won dozens of National and World Championships and holds several speed and endurance records. He is a multi-time inductee into the APBA Hall of Champions for accomplishments during his boat racing career.

Bob was the Chief Test Evaluator for PowerBoat Magazine and served as the Technical Editor of the Magazine starting in 1992, the same year he began his monthly question-and-answer column, "Teague on Tech." Currently, Bob holds the same position with Speedboat Magazine and continues to write his "Teague on Tech" column for each issue and also serves as a member of the magazine's test team and performs boat evaluations.

Bob's boating knowledge and expertise has helped to elevate events such as the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout broadcast, as he joined the live broadcast team almost 15 years ago.

Bob has been married to his wife Andrea for 50 years and they have two children, Cherilyn and John. In his spare time, he enjoys boating and spending time with friends in the Northern California community of Discovery Bay.

Whether you see footage of Bob Teague in a race or run alongside him in a poker run, there's one constant. He loves boating—always. "High performance boating is not what I do for a living. It is who I am. It is a way of life."
